Rector and the newly baptised.
From Cockington to Torbay, which is full of modern shop fronts and all the usual chains. There was a steel (gamelan?) band playing on my entry. I found this Methodist church in the 'cheesegrater' style.

Making my way along the coastline I passed several secluded lanes and vantage points over the sea, before reaching a pebble beach where I took a swim. Returning to Torbay, I dined in the Pizza Hut, but not before I wan kept waiting for a good half an hour to be served (I think because the staff were taking advantage of putting the foriegn trainees on all the orders) passing the time reading Bill Bryson's 'Notes on a Small Island', and watching as a wheelchair bound drunk made several attempts to gain entry using the ramp. The waiter wheeled him away half way down the shop-front several times during the course of the evening.
Two redundant churches I passed during that day. One had been turned into a 'fun house' where childred can eat turkey twizzlers and get buried to death with plastic balls. I lingered outside the door for a while but did not dare to go inside.

This redundant church was to satge 'The Full Monty'. 'Drop everything' is the tagline. That is the way to get people bach to church.
During the evening back in Paignton I walked several miles to reach several quays and coves. I circled a dark beach fillrf the shrieks and conversation of parties of teenages over from the Continent. I also met rows of silent night fishermen and women with thier metal tackle glinting in the little light, and thier buckets no-doubt containing unspeakable creatures, later to be used in 'alternative medicine'. I went up and down numerous partly lit stairways, passed dog-walkers, and smooching teenagers on park benches, and back to the centre of Paignton to loitering cars and thier occupants waiting for thier sausage and chips.
Day 3
A few last postcards from Paignton.
High street emporium.

And the 'one-style' hair salon.
A local butchers in the scenic lanes.
Local delicacies.

This boat was waiting for those wanting to go on a trip around the bay. For an hour is remained moored, touting "come on ladies and gentleman, the trip is just about to leave for a lovely cruise around the bay", yet it kept its several hostages who already had taken thier seats for all that time. Perhaps they thought themselves lucky to have bagged some seats!
